The parish community of the Holy and Glorious Great Martyr St. Demetrius, Myrrh-gusher, Wonderworker and military commander of Thessalonica in Akron celebrated their Slava with great joy on Sunday, November 12, 2017.

The feast began with Divine Liturgy officiated by Protonamesnik Dragan Goronjic, Dean of the Cleveland Deanery, with the con-celebration of V. Rev. Stavrophor Djordje Mileusnic, the host priest, and V. Rev. Milan Pajic of the St. Archangel Michael parish in Akron. The church was filled to capacity with faithful from Akron, Cleveland, and Youngstown joining those of St. Demetrius in their festal celebration.  During the service, Fr. Dragan gave an inspiring homily that touched on the life of St. Demetirus. Contributing to the beauty of the liturgy was the singing of the church choir, directed by Milenko Palic.

A memorial service was served following the Prayer before the Ambon for all deceased parishioners, which was followed by the cutting of the Slava kolach.

Immediately following Divine Liturgy, an agape meal was served with a short program.
