The Orthodox universe yesterday celebrated the saint of new times - St. Nectarios of Aegina. The monastery, which was founded by this saint in Aegina,  is visited by pilgrims from around the world.

Saint Nectarios of Aegina is the slava of the Institute for oncology of the Clinical Centre of Serbia where the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy was served in the chapel devoted to this saint by vicar Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno.

A choir of pupils of the Belgrade Seminary Saint Sava embellished the Liturgy during which tens of patients and employees partook the Holy Communion in this health institution.

Conveying the blessing of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, Bishop Atanasije congratulated the slava to the staff of the Institute and director Professor Dr. Zoran Rakocevic as well as to patients who are treated here.

More than 2000 miracles are attributed to Saint Nectarios of Aegina  (1846-1920) , so it is clear why he is called in some studies "Earth Angel - Heavenly Man". According to an Orthodox belief, healing with St. Nectarios was found by those  suffering from cancer, paralysis, Parkinson's disease and disease of  nerves, kidneys, eyes. The Serbian Orthodox Church has a part of the relics of this saint which are kept in the monastery of Rakovica, where Patriarch German brought after one visit to Greece.
