His Holiness celebrated in the Ascension church in Belgrade

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the Ascension church in Belgrade on 25 October 2020.

The Patriarch was concelebrate by local priests and deacons. On this occasion His Holiness Serbian Patriarch ordained deacon Bosko Savic, Professor of the Sain Sava Seminary in Belgrade, a presbyter.

Patriarch and Serbian President visit Saint Sava Cathedral

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, and Aleksandar Vucic, the President of the Republic of Serbia visited the Saint Sava Cathedral in the Vracar district on 22 October 2020. 

- I am glad that all citizens of Serbia and all Serbs, wherever they live, will soon be able to come to the Cathedral and see what generations of our ancestors and we managed to do together with them, said President Vucic on his Instagram account.

With the blessing of His Grace Andrej, Bishop of Austria-Switzerland, a regular session of the Committee for construction of the memorial church of the Holy Serbian New Martyrs was held at the military cemetery in Mauthausen, after the evening service in the church of St. Basil of Ostrog the Miracle-worker in Linz, on Friday, October 16, 2020.

The meeting was attended by the competent Diocesan Bishop Andrej, archpriest-staurophore Dragan Micic, parish priest from Linz; secretary Mr. Zeljko Malesevic and in the online format Mr. Mladen Filipovic, Head of the Republika Srpska Representation in Vienna. The final phase of the works and the overall progress of the works on the memorial chapel, which had been realized to that moment, were discussed at the meeting. Construction plans have been rather slow due to the corona virus pandemic. Nevertheless, the work that could be performed in the workshop was evaluated. This primarily refers to the construction of iconostasis, assembling mosaics, as well as icon-painting and preparation of the Book of the Dead - the works that could be performed in a workshop.

Bishop Longin Offers Condolences on Repose of Metropolitan Theodosius

His Grace Bishop Longin of New Gracanica-Midwestern America sent a letter of condolence on behalf of the Episcopal Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North, Central and South America to His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of the Orthodox Church in America on the passing of the Most-Blessed Metropolitan Theodosius (Lazor). 

"During his entire life", noted Bishop Longin, "Metropolitan Theodosius was a most dedicated servant of the Church, offering up himself to his people from his youth, following in the footsteps of his heavenly protector, St. Theodoisus of Chernigov. He worked diligently towards the good of the faithful and church order in North America, sparing no effort in keeping unity and harmony among all Orthodox jurisdictions."

First school of Serbian Orthodox Church in Australia to open in 2021The first school of the Serbian Orthodox Church is preparing to welcome its first students in an ideal environment in western Sydney on the feast day of St. Sava, on January 27, 2021. St. Sava College will operate in the suburb of Varroville under the auspices of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
