St. George's chapel consecrated in the Guard of the Army of Serbia
In the barracks "Dedinje" in Belgrade on April 25, 208, a chapel for religious services was consecrated in the Guard of the Serbian Armed Forces dedicated to the Great Martyr George the Victorious.
The Holy Liturgy was officiated by His Holiness Patriarch Irinej in attendance of the Chief of General Staff of the Army of Serbia General Ljubisa Dikovic with his associates, representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the donors of the newly built chapel and the members of the Serbian Guard Unit with the Commander-in-Chief General Milomir Todorovic at head.
The Patriarch was concelebrated by Chilandar Archinadrite Dositej, principal of the Holy Mother of God church in Zemun Revd. Nebojša Topolić, Chief Military chaplain Revd. Slađan Vlajić, military chaplain of the Training Command, Captain Revd. Stevan Stevanović, protodeacon Stevan Rapajić.
Students of the Orthodox Theological Faculty of the University of Belgrade, Drazen Kragic, Milos Marijanac, Danijel Cvjetkovic and Ivan Nedic, were chanting responses
The construction of the chaplain of St. George in the Guard of the Army of Serbia, under the auspices of the Commander of the Garda General Milomir Todorovic, was fully supported by the members of the Garda, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia, the Penal Educational Institution of Nis and the Chilandar Brotherhood as well as by Aleksandar Dedovac, Dragan Vulin, Vojin Zarić, Milorad Ostojić, Mirko Rašić, Jovan Pupovac, Milan Milic, Milan Nikolic, Miroslav Latinovic, Dario Mackic and Vladimir Marjanovic.
Colonel Sasa Milutinovic, head of the Department of Religions of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, attended the ceremonial rite of consecration.
For the reason that this magnificent place of worship is dedicated to St. George the Victorious, the first solemn Liturgy will be celebrated on the feast-day of St. George on the 6th of May, 2018.
