On the student patron feast celebration of St. Sava at Cambridge University.
With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Dositej diocese for Great Britain & Scandinavia, Serbian students at Cambridge University celebrated their patron and intercessor before our Lord and God, the first Serbian Archbishop St. Sava.
The rite of blessing the Slava wheat, wine and bread was celebrated by protopresbyter - stavrophore Aleksandar Ilic, parish priest of St. John the Baptist church in Halifax, West Yorkshire. The host of the Slava was Mr. Luka Bojovic from Gornji Milanovac. For next year’s Slava the honour of hosting was accepted by Mr. Ivan Tanasijevic from Zrenjanin.
The celebration was attended by Mr. Marko Gasic, president of the church committee and Ms. Zorka Maksimovic choirmaster, of St. Sava church congregation in London. At the end of the service protopresbyter- stavrophore Aleksandar Ilic congratulated the Slava host Mr. Luka Bojovic and all the Serbian students and made a short speech about Saint Sava, the first Serbian Archbishop and national educator. Student Djordje Zikelic also made a speech in English about the Serbian saint.
In the student accommodation building of Trinity College, the students served a delicious feast of love for everyone. The joyous celebration was spent in pleasant conversation and socialising. It was a pleasure to get acquainted with the Serbian students and being in prayer with them. It was a honour to celebrate Saint Sava together with them, in a happy mood and in festive joy.
