Sunday of Orthodoxy in San Francisco
The Eucharistic celebration of the Sunday of Orthodoxy in San Francisco was elevated by Hierarchical Divine Liturgy served by His Grace Bishop Maxim with parish priest Fr. Djurica Gordic. Divine Liturgy was well attended, and many parishioners received Holy Eucharist.
His Grace Bishop Maxim delivered a sermon on the topic of Sunday of Orthodoxy, underlining the importance of icons and iconography in the spiritual life of every Christian. Fr. Djurica Gordic used this opportunity to thank His Grace Bishop Maxim for spiritual guidance and visit to St. John’s parish.
After the Divine Liturgy in the church hall, there was lunch, prepared for this occasion by reader Luka Erceg and his family. Luka is treasurer of our parish council. Luka recently had a very traumatic health issue. As a thank you to all who gave support through the prayers, Luka greeted everyone and he talked about the importance of the community. Also, he announced the opening of the new Community fund which will be used for the benefit of our parishioners of all ages, and he donated seed money.
In the evening hours, His Grace Bishop Maxim and Fr. Djurica attended Pan-Orthodox vespers service at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Brotherhood Way in San Francisco.
