With the participation of a multitude of believers, the Sunday of Orthodoxy was celebrated in Smyrna, in the historic church of Agios Voukolos and Agios Polycarpos, after the authorities’ consent to the request of the Metropolis and the Orthodox Community of Smyrna.

Metropolitan Bartholomew of Smyrna officiated the Matins and led the Divine Liturgy. The established procession of sacred icons around the temple followed afterwards.

It is noted that this was the first time a Divine Liturgy was performed on that day in this historic temple, and Metropolitan Bartholomew promises to celebrate a Divine Liturgy every year, provided the necessary permission of the authorities is ensured.

Argyro Papoulia, Consul General of Greece, Fani Papathoma, Deputy Regional Governor of Viotia, Efthimios Angelopoulos, head of the Greek mission at NATO headquarters, attended the Divine Liturgy.
