Symposium on Holy Sacraments in the Archdiocese of Belgrade-Karlovac

His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral  Amfilohije, locum tenens of St. Sava's throne, served on Saturday November 28, 2009 the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy at the side chapel of St. John at the Orthodox Theological Faculty of the Belgrade University. Metropolitan served with the concelebration of Bishop Longin and Vicar Bishop Atanasije with the priests and deacons of the Archbishopric of Belgrade-Karlovac.

After the Holy Liturgy, Metropolitan Amfilohije, locum tenens of Serbian patriarchs' throne,  gave the deacons and priests of the Archbishopric of Belgrade-Karlovac  a lecture on Divine Liturgy and Holy Sacrament of Baptism. On that occasion, Metropolitan stressed that Holy Sacraments rise from the Divine Liturgy, and the Holy Service of God is our only salvation in the Lord. After a very inspired lecture a discussion followed  in which Metropolitan answered to all doubts that priests had had or which had encountered in the course of their pastoral service. Then came a table of love.

From 1:00pm protopresbyter- staurophor Dr. Vladimir Vukasinovic, bishop's deputy, gave a lecture on Holy Sacrament of Marriage and crisis of marriage consortium . He made a review of the very rite of marriage from I - IX century and pointed out when the rite was taken out of the liturgical assembling. The third lecture was held by deacon Dr. Petar Dabic on Meaning of sexuality and gender issues in the Orthodox marriage. The speaker  specifically referred to the historical course of birth, so at the end he empasized what were contraceptive methods and what existential consequences they had. Deacon Dabic talked also about abortion and how,in modern terms, we can prevent it by leading a spiritual life.
