Textbook of the Academy of the SOC: The Problem of gluing paintings on cold-water glue solutions

The Academy of the Serbian Orthodox Church for arts and conservation in this academic year published a textbook for a subject Conservation and restoration of icons II - titled The Problem of gluing paintings on cold-water glue solutions, by M.Sc. Jovan Pantic. This is a fourth book so far in the edition Textbooks.

The textbook is revised edition of the master thesis that the author defended at the School of Applied Arts in Belgrade before the Prof. Milorad Medic.The author sais himself that this problem became important because of the damaged icons, frescoes and pictures which are sensitive on temperature, have light colorite and young by creation, which can greatly help in the restoration of desecrated treasure from all Serbian territories and especially from Kosovo and Metohija and ex-Yugoslav republics. This is one of attempts, and it is the most successful in our region, that something new is being introduced in the area of conservation and restoration. This is the first book of that category on the territory where Serbian is spoken, and is it highly significant because of the restoration of the desecrated Serbian cultural and spiritual treasure. Reviewers prof. Dr Milka Chanak-Medic and Anika Skovran commended the work of the author but also the school for recognition of the problem in restoration and preservation and an attempt of solving it.

The Ministry of Faith of the Government  of the Republic of Serbia helped printing of the book.
