Thanksgiving on the occasion of the Greek national holiday

At the Patriarchal chapel of Saint Simeon the Myrrh-Gusher in Belgrade, with the blessing and in the presence of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, His Grace Bishop Andrej of Remesiana celebrated yesterday, on the feast day of the Annunciation to the Most Holy Mother of God according to the Gregorian calendar, the thanksgiving service on the occasion of the Greek national holiday – Liberation day from the Turkish yoke and the remembrance of the liberation uprisings from 1821. Presbyters Panayotis Karatasios, Dimitrios Kasapis and Vladimir Vranic concelebrated to the Bishop.

Following the rite of thanksgiving, Serbian Patriarch Irinej offered blessings and cordial greetings to Ambassador of Greece, H.E. Dimostenes Stoidis, military attachés, diplomats and members of the Greek community in the Serbian capital.

Also this year the memorial service was served at the monument to the Greek national hero Rigas Feraios near the Kalemegdan Park.
