Theophany procession and swimming for the Precious Cross
His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in Saint Nicholas Church in Zemun on 19 January 2020, on the feast of Theophany.
The Patriarch was concelebrated by local clergy. The Holy Liturgy was attended by Crown Prince Aleksandar and Princess Katherine Karadjordjevic, Assistant Director of the Office for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities Dr Marko Nikolic, representatives of Municipality of Zemun, representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces, Gendarmerie, Fire Brigade, Police and lots of faithful people.
Following the service, the solemn procession led by the Serbian Patriarch, heads of the Municipality of Zemun and Crown Prince Aleksandar and Princess Katherine Karadjordjevic, which gathered thousands of believers, arrived to the Zemun quaye where His Holiness blessed the waters of the Danube and blessed the fearless swimmers for the Precious Cross.
More than 200 hundred swimmers swam to catch the Precious Cross, and among them four girls. A sixteen-year-old Stefan Stojiljkovic was the fastest to catch the Precious Cross and he received the award and recognition from the Patriarch. Among the ladies, Jelena Stosic was the fastest.
