The Third Day of the Visit of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel at the Ecumenical Patriarchate
May 29, 2009, was the third day of the visit of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel at the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The two Primates, His Holiness Bartholomew I, the Ecumenical Patriarch, and His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, have met again this morning at the Patriarchal Residence in Constantinople, discussing the collaboration between the two patriarchies, as well as the situation of the Romanian Orthodox parish in Istanbul. The meeting was also attended by members of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The afternoon included a visit at the Romanian Embassy in Turkey, located in Ankara. Today is also the 556th commemoration of the fall of Constantinople under Turkish rule, an event which marked the end of the Eastern Roman Empire.
