On 6th November 2015, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, who was in Kampala, the capital of Uganda and See of the Holy Metropolis of Kampala and All Uganda, made pastoral visits to the Missionary Centres and Parishes of the city and the surrounding districts.

Specifically, he visited the parish of the Apostle Luke in KABOGNE and the adjacent Schools where he spoke to the pupils, emphasizing the importance of education when it is combined with faith and piety.

He then visited the Clinic of the Holy Metropolis in the area and was briefed about the contribution of the Orthodox Church to the suffering patients in the area.

On the same day the Alexandrian Primate visited the Parish of the Transfiguration of the Saviour in DEGEYA, as well as the Orphanage which is maintained by the Parish, spent time with the orphaned children and gave them gifts; while he also praised the ladies who were so dedicated for their voluntary contribution to the orphans.

Lastly, he went to the Parish of St Antony and the nearby newly-erected Convent of St Mary of Egypt, for which His Beatitude had laid the foundation stone four years ago, spoke about the contribution of Monasticism to the life of the Church and performed the tonsure of one of the novice nuns from the convent, naming her Maria in honour of the Venerable Mary of Egypt.

He also thanked the Sisters of the Holy Monastery of Chrysopege Crete, which supports the Convent in Uganda and gave the spiritual foundations to the first nuns of this new Sisterhood.
