Transfiguration of our Lord celebrated in the monastery of Lipovac
The faithful of the Diocese of Nis celebrated the Transfiguration of the Lord with their Patriarch.
On the eve of the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, on August 18, 2020, His Grace Arsenije, Bishop of Nis, together with archimandrite Dionisije, Abbess Melania, the sisterhood and numerous priests and faithful people of the Diocese of Nis, welcomed His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Irinej in the monastery of St. Stephen at Lipovac.
The solemn vigil servicel was officiated by Bishop Arsenije together with archimandrite Damaskin (Grabez), abbot of the monastery of St. Roman; archpriest-Staurophore Branislav Cincarevic, principal of the Cathedral in Nis; Archpriest Miodrag Pavlovic, first dean of Nis; proto-dean Dejan Milosevic, principal of the church of Saints Cosmas and Damian in the Nis district of Nikola Tesla; and Deacon Djordje Filipovic, Secretary of the Bishop of Nis.
On the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, on August 19, 2020, the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy was celebrated by His Holiness Patriarch Irinej, Bishop of Nis Arsenije; archimandrite Raphael (Grabez), abbot of the Monastery of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God at Visocka Rzana; archpriest-staurophore Milutin Timotijevic, principal of the Prizren Theological Seminary temporarily in Nis; archpriest-staurophore Zivorad Marinkovic, second parish priest at the church of St. Panteleimon in Nis; archpriest-staurophore Djordje Milojkovic, principal of the Cathedral in Krusevac; priest Dejan Mijatovic, parish priest of Trnava; archdeacon Stevan Kricka and Deacons Branislav Jocic and Djordje Filipovic.
Liturgical responses were chanted by catechists, students of theology and seminary pupils from the Diocese of Nis. His Holiness, together with Bishop Arsenije and Father Raphael administered Holy Communion to the faithful. During the procession around the church His Holiness read a prayer for the repose of the souls of the deceased abbots, nuns and of all those who had lived in that sacred monastery.
