Transfiguration in Philadelphia: Our Church and our Children
On Sunday August 18 the children of St. Nicholas Church school in Philadelphia gathered to prepare the church for the feast of Our Lord’s Transfiguration.
They prepared the grapes that would be blessed on the Feast day shaping them beautifully in the shape of our Precious, Lifesaving Cross.
They also decorated the Icon of Transfiguration adorning the Icon with beautiful arrangements of roses and flowers . Father spoke to the children of the feast and the significance of the blessing of the grapes and fruits of the first harvest.
We were blessed to have children attend Divine Liturgy on the feast and participate in reading the Antiphons , Epistle and serving in the altar.
