Turkish President sent Easter message to Christian citizens of Turkey

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent his Easter message to Christian citizens of Turkey, saying that, unfortunately, believers would not be able to gather in churches due to the coronavirus.

“I sincerely congratulate our Christian compatriots who belong to various churches and communities on the occasion of one of the most important holidays, Easter,” said the Turkish president.

“The international community is currently going through difficult times because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our Christian fellow citizens will unfortunately not be able to gather in churches this year because of the precautionary measures. However, we believe that through the strict implementation of the necessary measures, our country will soon overcome this situation and we will all return to the normal,” he said.

In the same message, the Turkish President thanked his Christian compatriots for their contribution to the National Solidarity Campaign in order to support the population in need due to the crisis caused by the pandemic. “On the occasion of Easter, I wish good health to all Christians and especially to our Christian fellow citizens,” the Turkish president said in a statement.
