Two centuries of Njegoš

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, met on 5 February 2013 with the delegation of the Committee for celebration of 200th anniversary of the birth of Bishop Petar I Petrović Njegoš. The delegations consisted of: academician Matija Bećković, president of the Committee; corresponding member of the Serbian Academy of Sciencies and Arts (SASA) Miro Vuksanović and Professor Dr. Dragan Stanić, vicepresidents; and also academician Dimitrije Stefanović,secretary general of SASA.

The members of the delegation informed His Holiness with the programme of marking of this exceptional jubilee – “Two Centuries of Njegoš”. The programme will officially begin with the speech on Njegoš by Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral at the formal meeting of Matica Srpska, which will be held on 16 February 2013 at the Matica Srpska.

A very rich cultural program is planned and the central manifestation will be three-day international scientific seminar which will be on 6-8 November 2013. This program will take place on many locations: Belgrade, Novi Sad, Banja Luka, Podgorica etc.

His Holiness gladly accepted to be the patron of the whole programme and blessed future works of all participants of this event.
