Vigil in Dormition of Virgin Mary Holy Monastery in the French Alps

With the dedication and Byzantine majesty, the Holy Cross Feast was celebrated at the Holy Monastery of the Dormition of Virgin Mary La Faurie in the French Alps.

The Vigil Service was performed by Bishop Maximos of Melitene. The Vigil Service began at 8:30 on the eve of the Feast and ended this morning with the celebrating Divine Liturgy.It was followed by a dinner where pilgrims from the region were invited.

Bishop Maximos of Melitene conveyed the wishes of Metropolitan Emmanuel of France and spoke appropriately to the fraternity and the pilgrims for the day’s celebration.

La Faurie Holy Monastery is located in southeastern France, amidst the imposing mountain peaks of the southwestern Alps. It was founded in 1978 and counts 10 monks who have byzantine hagiography and beekeeping as their main work.
