Vlade Divac in Australia
On Sunday, January 22, 2012, his travel throughout the Fifth continent was began by the famous Serbian basketball player and a great humanist Vlade Divac. Vlade Divac came to Australia upon the invitation of the Metropolitanate of Australia-New Zealand, and as the founder and patron of the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation which collects financial funds for aid and, above all, solving housing problems of refugees and displaced persons in Serbia.
The aim of this charity foundation is housing of all refugees, who are still in collective centers, into their own homes and finally closing these centers. The Foundation has so far settled three hundred Serbian refugee families from different parts, and this is the first time they visited the Serbian diaspora in Australia and New Zealand.
As it was said before, Ana and Vlade Divac attended the Divine Liturgy in the church of St. Stephen in Root Hill, where His Grace Bishop was concelebrated by local priests.
After the Holy Liturgy Vlade and Ana Divac joined the faithful at the table of love and there officially began with charity activities, representing their foundation. During the mutual lunch they collected over 9000 dollars, of which mostly were given by the famous old representative of the Serbian community in Sidney Mr. Panta Velickovic, the bearer of the St. Sava order.
Vlade also visited the retirement resort Sain Simeon the Myrrh-Gushing which is located in this parish.
Later he went to the Serbian center Bonnyrigg where there were various sport activities. There Vlade and Ana Divac addressed the present in the full memorial hall "Draza Mihajlovic" where they represented the foundations and its causes.
