York: In honor of Emperor Constantine
On Pentecost Tuesday, 25 July 2013, His Grace Bishop Dositej of Britain and Scandinavia, accompanied by protopresbyter-stavrophor Aleksandar Ilic, head of the church of Saint John the Baptist in Halifax, visited the Cathedral of Saint Peter the Apostle in York, Northern England. On the south side of the cathedral there is a magnificent statue of Emperor Constantine the Great with a sign that this Roman emperor in York was declared a ruler in 306.
The cathedral in York was one of the greatest churches representing the Gothic architecture in Northern Europe. It is the see of Archbishop of York, which is the second most honored in the Anglican Church.
In evening hours, members of the Circle of Serbian Sisters at the church of Saint John the Baptist in Halifax prepared an agape feast in honor of Bishop Dositej.
