Honoring the 160th anniversary of the First Belgrade Singing Society, the
Cathedral Church in Belgrade organized the New Year’s charitable concert of
spiritual and national music at Dom Sindikata.

The First Belgrade Singing Society was founded in 1853 and its rich history
tells the story of national and cultural creation of our country and represents
the spiritual and artistic source of the Serbian modern music. Supported by the
Serbian Orthodox Church and under the patronage of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian
Patriarch, this oldest choir is the royal ambassador of Serbian culture.

During the concert, besides the First Belgrade Singing Society, the Children’s
choir of this Society and the national ensemble Kolo participated, as well.

The sister Polish Orthodox Church gave the First Belgrade Singing Society a
special award for its work and artistic contribution.

Bishop Andrej of Remesiana with his presence along with many priests,
representatives of public and cultural life and representatives of foreign
embassies enriched the 160th anniversary of the First Belgrade Singing Society.
