Catholicos of All Armenians Received Chairman of Iran’s Culture and Islamic Relations Organization

On February 20th, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Abuzar Ebrahimi Torkaman, head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO).

The Catholicos of All Armenians highlighted the Armenian-Iranian intergovernmental relations and noted that the life of the two friendly peoples is marked by centuries-old close cultural ties. His Holiness expressed gratitude to the Iranian authorities, greatly appreciating the caring attitude towards the Armenian spiritual and cultural values in Iran.

During the meeting, Mr. Abuzar Ebrahimi Torkaman presented the purposes and scope of the activity of the ICRO, emphasizing the importance of strengthening ties and cooperation with different cultural and religious institutions of the world and International cultural organizations.

His Holiness and Mr. Torkaman also discussed issues related to inter-religious dialogue. His Holiness expressed concern over the situation in the Middle East, particularly regarding the Christian communities and the reduction and elimination of risk. In turn he stressed the necessity of inter-religious cooperation for overcoming the challenges facing the world, for tolerance and for re-establishing an atmosphere of peaceful coexistence.

Attended the meeting was His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the External Realtions and Protocol Department of Mother See.
