Celebration of St Sava`s Day at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Belgrade
St Sava, the first Archbishop and the Serbian teacher, asevery year, is properly celebrated at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the University of Belgrade. His Grace Irinej of Bachka, a dean ofthe Faculty, and professor were greathosts of the two-day celebration which was dedicated to St Sava.
In the evening on January 26, 2009 His Eminence Archbishop Jovan of Ohrid and Metropolitan of Skopje served , at the sidechapel of St John The Theologist, a festal vigil service with chanting of the student of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology.
His EminenceArchbishop Jovan of Ohrid and Metropolitan of Skopje served on the St Sava`sDay the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the side chapel of St John The Theologist at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the University ofBelgrade, with the concelebration of Bishop Irinej of Bachka and professors ofthis institution.
Holy Service of Godwas beautified with chanting of the students of the Faculty. Their GracesArchbishop Jovan and Bishop Irinej, the dean of the Faculty, cut the slava cakewith Prof. Dr Bogoljub Shijakovic, the minister of faith and Dr ZarkoObradovic, the minister of education. The St Sava`s Day celebrations wereattended also by His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of the Montenegro and TheLittoral, the highest representatives of the traditional church and faithcommunities in Serbia as well as the representatives of the public life of theSerbian capital.
In the amphitheatreof the Faculty there was a solemn awarding of diplomas and a rich culturalprogram. At the beginning of the academy, His Grace Bishop Irinej of Bachka,the dean of the Faculty and the host, welcomed all the guests. At the end ofthe academy students sang the Hymn of St Sava.
