Celebration of Synaxis of St. John the Baptist in Novi Sad
On the feast day of the Synaxis of the St. John, the Prophet, the Forerunner and the Baptist at the Church of St. Greatmartyr George in Novi Sad, His Grace Irinej of Bachka served the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy with the concelebration of His Beatitude Archbishop Jovan of Ohrid and Metropolitan of Skopje and Their Graces Bishops Pahomije of Vranje and Porfirije of Jegar.
Monks of Kovilj Monastery, students of the Faculty of the Orthodox Theology from Belgrade and members of ”Mojsije Petrovic” choir chanted.
Archbishop Jovan addressed the faithful people with an appropriate sermon, congratulating them all the feast, and Bishops Irinej and Porfirije, on their Patron Saint's Day.
After the Divine Liturgy, at the Residence of Bishops of Bachka, Archbishop Jovan performed an act of blessing wheat and the slava cake.
This festive event was attended by many prominent personalities: Mr. Bojan Pajtic, President of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Msgr. Dr. Andrija Kopilovic, vice dean of the Theological-Catechetial Institute of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Subotica , academician Zoran L. Kovacevic, President of the SASA branch in Novi Sad, Mr Vladimir Todorovic, Director of the Directorate for Restitution and Mr. Dragan Kojic, director of the Novi Sad City Library.
