Concert of Spiritual Music in Berlin
With the blessing of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, on the occasion of the celebration of the 1700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan, a concert of spiritual music was held at the church of Saint Sava in Berlin on Saturday, 9 March 2013.
On the beginning of the concert the dean of the Saint Sava church, protopresbyter Veljko Gacic, pointed out the significance of this jubilee for our Local Church, for all Christianity and for the whole world.
Among the audience were also His Excellency Ambassador of Serbia in Berlin Dr. Ivo Viskovic with associates, Assistant Minister at the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina Predrag Djokic, military attaché of Serbia in Berlin Lieutenant Colonel Aleksandar Cer, as well as representatives of Greek, Evangelical, Roman Catholic and Armenian Church.
Special thanks and greeting was sent to the representatives of the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The concert was performed by choir of the German Parliament Musikgemeinschaft Deutscher Bundestag conducted by Zarko Bulajic and church choir St. Stefan of Decani conducted by Ljiljana Surdilovic.
The highlight of the concert was at the end when both choirs sang together The Cherubic Hymn of Stevan St. Mokranjac.
The three-part concert that lasted for 80 minutes consisted of compositions of German, Italian, French, Russian and Serb composers.
