Consecration of the premises of JAT Airways
With the blessing and on behalf of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, His Grace Bishop Irinej of the Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand with parish priest protopresbyter-stavrophor Rajko Nedic consecrated the premises of JAT Airways (Air Serbia)
Bishop Irinej conveyed the blessing of His Holiness to the employees of the national airline and wished them better cooperation in the world and flights to more destinations.
86 years of existence
The Society for air traffic "Aeroput", which successor is JAT Airways, was founded on 17 Juny 1927. The first civilian flight in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia "Aeroput" had on 15 February 1928 between Belgrade and Zagreb.
Twenty years later, on 1 April 1947, airplanes with first postwar lines of the company "Yugoslav Airlines " (JAT) took off, and since 8 August 2003 it changed name to JAT Airways.
On the beginning of 90s of the XX century the period of the disintegration of the SFRY began which especially influenced the JAT, which did not fly during the UN sanctions. However, in 1994 JAT renews destinations. The interruption of the traffic happened once again, in 1999 because of the bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia
After all, JAT Airways has always flew and again flies towards Europe and the world.
