On Friday, January 31, 2014, His Eminence Cardinal Scola, Archbishop of Milan, officially visited the Ecumenical Patriarchate. His delegation included Messeigneurs Bruno Marinoni and Luca Bressan, Frs. Luciano Capra and Davide Milani, Deacon Roberto Pagani.

On Friday afternoon, they were received at the Ecumenical Patriarchate by His All-Holiness. That evening, His All-Holiness and Cardinal Scola spoke at the Roman Catholic Church of St. Antonio di Padova in Istanbul, where they launched a book by Pope Benedict XVI on the life and work of St. Paul. The Ecumenical Patriarch has written the foreword to the Turkish translation of the book.

On Saturday, Cardinal Scola and his delegation visited the Theological School of Halki, Haghia Sophia and the Tomb of Patriarch Athenagoras at Baloukli.

On Sunday morning, His All-Holiness attended the Divine Liturgy commemorating the Feast of the Presentation of our Lord in the Temple at the Patriarchal Church of St. George, during which the delegation was present also for the consecration of Bishop Nikephoros of Amorion, Abbot of the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of Vlatadon in Thessaloniki, Greece.
