DECR chairman meets with President of the Italian Republic

On 12 November 2013, Metropolitan Hilarion met with the President of the Italian Republic, Mr. Giorgio Napolitano.

They were joined in the meeting, which took place at Palazzo del Quirinale, by counselors to the President, Antonio Zanardi Landi and Carlo Guelfi, deputy minister of foreign affairs, Marta Dassù; Russian Ambassador to Italy, Sergei Razov; archimandrite Antony (Sevryuk); hieromonk Giovanni Guaita and Rev. Alexei Dikarev, staff members of the DECR.

Serbian Patriarch meets with President of Serbia

President of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Tomislav Nikolic received His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, at the Office of the President of Serbia yesterday.

The discussion was about resolving the open property and legal issues between the Serbian Orthodox Church and the state, as well as the problem of  building of the Library of the Serbian Patriarchate.  In the talks there were involved: Vice President of the Government of Serbia Mr. Aleksandar Vucic, Minister of Culture and Information Mr. Ivan Tasovac, Minister of Justice and State Administration Mr. Nikola Selakovic, the head of the Library of the Serbian Patriarchate MSc Zoran Nedeljkovic and Director  of the Directorate for the Property of the Republic of Serbia.

Pope meets with Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk

Pope Francis has met with the foreign minister of the Russian Orthodox Church ahead of a Nov. 25 visit to the Vatican by President Vladimir Putin.

The Vatican released no details of Tuesday’s meeting with Metropolitan Hilarion, in Rome for a Catholic-Orthodox conference on family values.

National Art Museum presents Orthodox exhibition

The Orthodox exhibition is dedicated to the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus.

 The image of Christ in iconography has never been so widely and fully represented in Belarus. 9 museums from Belarus, Russia, Serbia and Ukraine present two hundred images depicting the life of Jesus Christ from Nativity to Ascension.

The oldest of the Orthodox icons is the Russian one dated to the 15th century. It is represented by the State Tretyakov Gallery and the private museum of Russian Icons in Moscow. The Kiev’s icon dates back to 16th century. For the first time the exhibition features the Balkan region.

To all international, humanitarian and religions organizations and institutions and to who have a humanitarian role in the world, To all people with good intentions in the world

I call for you today on behalves of all the innocent people including elders, women, children, young men and women trapped in an areas, where we can’t reach them nor can they reach us in Sadad and Alhafar. I appeal to the groups forbidding them from leaving sieged areas and to negotiate with them an evacuation in a safe way where they wouldn’t be harmed. Allowing them to move to Derattiah direction or in Homs direction where we will be waiting to receive them.
