Exhibition NOT TO FORGET for the seventh time

With the blessing of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, the seventh traditional exhibition of copies of icons and frescoes from Kosovo and Metohija was opened last night, on March 17, 2011 at the St. Sava's house of the St. Sava Memorial Cathedral on Vracar. This year the copies of the frescoes of Mother of God Ljeviska in Prizren, but also other monasteries from Kosovo and Metohija are showcased. 

The exhibition was organized under patronage of the Ministry of Faith of the Republic of Serbia.

At the opening, protopresbyter-staurophor Dr Radomir Popovic, dean of the Higher school - Academy of the Serbian Orthodox Church for arts and conservation greeted the present and pointed out that professors with students each year paint icons from Kosovo and Metohija so they would protect them from oblivion and show everyone that Kosovo and Metohija are Serbian Jerusalem. 

With the blessing and on behalf of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno, vicar of Patriarch, formally opened the exhibition stressing that this was the response to the madness that happened to Kosovo and Metohija on March 17, 2004. Bishop at the end of the sermon conveyed the blessing of Serbian Patriarch Irinej to those who organized the exhibition NOT TO FORGET and to those who came to see the icons.

The Academy - Higher School of the Serbian Orthodox Church for arts and conservation from Belgrade, traditionally marks the pogrom of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija with the exhibition NOT TO FORGET. The first exhibition was opened by His Holiness Pavle, Serbian Patriarch at the Gallery of Frescoes on March 17, 2005. Since then the exhibition was showcased in Germany in Munich's cultural centre Gasteich (2005), then in Boston and New York (2006). Last year on March 17 exhibitions were organized in Belgrade, Kraljevo, Sarajevo, Bijeljina, Han Pijesak and Cajetina. In Belgrade, in St. Sava's house in Vracar, the exhibition was opened by His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch. This year the works are presented in St. Sava's house in Nis on March 16, 2011 and in parish house of St. Sava in Belgrade on March 17, 2011.
