Great Orthodox photo exhibition Heart of the North Fivaida in Rome
With the blessing of His Holiness Kirill of Moscow and All Russia at the Russian Centre for science and culture in Rome a photo exhibition entitled Cuore della Fivaída del Nord (Heart of the North Fivaida) by the author Archbishop Maximilian of Vólogda and Velikiy Ustjug has been opened.
The exhibition approaches the issue of Orthodoxy, the severe and moving beauty of the Russian north, and the lives of its inhabitants and monks.
The Vólogda lands occupy a special place in the history of the Russian Orthodox Church. The treasures and riches here are not material but spiritual: prior to the Russian revolution, there were 138 monasteries and 1,340 churches in the area. Through 21 July.
