Half a millennia of Monastery of Krushedol

The Serbian Orthodox Church, Diocese of Srem and Monastery of Krushedol celebrated a great jubilee - five centuries, half a millennia of the existence of this great Serbian sanctuary.

On the occasion of this jubilee there was a Holy Hierarchal Liturgy service. Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral served it with the concelebration of Metropolitan Nikolaj of Dabrobosna, Bishop Irinej of Nis, Bishop Vasilije of Zvornik and Tuzla, the host Bihsop Vasilije of Srem, Bishop Jefrem of Banjaluka, Bishop Lukijan of Budim, Bihsop Nikanor of Banat, Bishop Irinej of Bachka, Bishop Lukijan of Diocese of Osijek Polje and Baranja, Bishop Sava of Slavonia, Bishop Ignjatije of Branichevo, Bishop Jovan of Shumadija and Bishop Tikhon of Komoran (the Orthodox Church of Czech lands and Slovakia) and twenty priests and five deacons. During the Holy Liturgy, the heugomen of this sacred family, Great Reverend Father Sava (Jovanchevic) received the rank of archimandrite. 

The Holy Liturgy was attended by president of the Executive Council of Vojvodina Bojan Pajtic who on this occasion received an order of St Arsenije Sremac, the highest distinction of the Diocese of Srem, representatives of the Serbian government, representatives of the Crown Council, Their Excellencies Ambassadors, representatives of the Serbian army, representatives of the sister Churches, representatives of Matica Srpska and other people of our cultural and public life.

The Monastery of Krushedol received from the Holy Synod of Bishops the order of St Sava of the first degree. The Great Reverend Archimandrite HeugomenSava received it after the Holy Liturgy.

On behalf of the Diocese of Srem His Grace Bishop Vasilije of Srem greeted the guests who also thanked all those who had been helping this great Serbian sanctuary.
