The Holy Fire, which miraculously descents in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, will be delivered by a special flight at 10.30 p.m. to Vnukovo airport on April 18, Saturday. The shrine will be taken to Christ the Savior Cathedral and conveyed to Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia for the Easter service, press service of St. Andrew the First-Called Foundation has told Interfax-Religion on Tuesday.

In 2009, the Holy Fire is to be delivered to diocesan centers of the Russian Church - Minsk, Riga, Tallinn, Baku, St. Petersburg, Barnaul, Belgorod, Volgograd, Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Kemerovo, Kostroma, Krasnoyarsk, Kursk, Lipetsk, Magadan, Murmansk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Oryol, Perm, Pskov, Saratov, Stavropol, Tambov, Tula, Cheboksary, Yaroslavl, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Rostov-on-Don, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, and Yakutsk.

The Holy Fire has appeared at the Lord's sepulcher for many centuries shortly before Orthodox Easter. Eastern Christians are convinced that the miracle of the Holy Fire proves the truth of the Orthodox faith as every Easter the Holy Fire appears at the Lord's Sepulcher. The believers think the descent of the fire disapproves of any atheistic views.
