Jubilee in Osnabrück

The Serbian Orthodox Church community in Osnabrück (Northwest Germany) is celebrating on Saturday December 12, 2009 two anniversaries: 65 years since the foundation and 50 years since the official registration. On this occasion Diocesan bishop, His Grace Bishop Konstantin of Middle Europe will visit Osnabrück and at the local church of St. George The Great Martyr will serve the Holy Hierarchal  Liturgy at 10 am.

After the Holy Liturgy at noon, the memorial service will be served at the nearby cemetery of the Serbian army officers. At 2:00pm there will be a cultural program in Serbian and German.

At the officer camp in Osnabrück, during World War II, a large number of Serbian officers of the army of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia were detained. Soon after the war Osnabrück became one of the most significant centers of Serbs in Germany.
