Memorial service for Vozd Karadjordje and rebels in Orashac
After the liturgical celebration of the Presentation of the Lord, as a part of the celebration of the National Day of the Republic of Serbia, February 15 2010, His Grace Bishop Jovan of Shumadia served in Orashac a memorial service for Karadjordje and the rebels who gave their lives in the struggle for the freedom of the Serbian people.
Mr. Bogoljub Sijakovic, Minister of Religion of the Republic of Serbia, Crown Prince Aleksandar and Princess Katherine, representatives of the Army of the Republic of Serbia, local county authorities, political and cultural institutions attended the memorial service and remarkable laying wreaths, as well as a short program that was conducted at Maricevica Gully.
Like every year the celebration was attended by a large number of believers and patriots prayerfully remembering the ancestors fallen in the struggle for freedom and progress of Serbia and our nation. After the program, Bishop Jovan served the memorial service for Karadjordje at the church of Holy Great Martyr George at Oplenac, and then escorted by Minister Bogoljub Sijakovic visited the church of the Saints Apostles Peter and Paul in Arandjelovac.
