Russian Patriarch visits China

The newly elected Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill met a delegation of the People's Republic of China led by Ye Xiaowen, head of the State Administration for Religious Affairs, who is well-known for his anti-Vatican attacks.

The meeting took place on 2 February but was reported only yesterday on the Orthodoxy in China website. Kirill thanked Ye for the visit which took place "on the day of my enthronement", he said. As a matter of fact, it occurred a day earlier.

Refurbishment of Moracnik Monastery

With the blessings of The Archbishop of Cetinje, His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral, and His Grace Bishop Irinej of Australia and New Zealand, the faithful of the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church in Perth, inspired by the Branislav Grbovic family and led by the Very Rev. Dr. Milorad Soaktar, have initiated a fund-raising campaign to refurbish Moracnik Monastery in Montenegro.

The Monastery of Morachnik is situated on Skadar Lake's Island of the same name within the Zeta Mount Athos-Zetska Sveta Gora. The complex is located on the protruding cape on the southeastern side, laid almost on the very waterfront.

Archbishop of Canterbury visits Greek Orthodox Leader in Alexandria

The Archbishop of Canterbury has received a warm welcome from His Beatitude Theodoros II, the Greek Orthodox Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and Africa, during a visit to his residence in Alexandria. The Archbishop was invited to visit the Greek Orthodox Leader while in Alexandria for the Primates Meeting.

Patriarch Kirill to give a new impulse to inter-Orthodox relations – Bishop Hilarion

Dialogues between local Orthodox Churches may receive new development under Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Bishop Hilarion of Vienna and Austria, head of the Moscow Patriarchate Representation to European Institutions. The Moscow Patriarchate regrets that State Duma MPs decided against proposal of their North-Ossetian counterparts to limit TV and radio programs of erotic character. Patriarch Kirill of Russia to pay his first foreign visit to Kiev

Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill will pay his first foreign visit to Ukraine. "I would like to visit the mother of Russian cities - Kiev, our ancient capital and the center of Russian Orthodoxy," Patriarch Kirill told the Rossiya TV channel.
