No preparations for Alexy II meeting with Pontiff - Moscow Patriarchate

Preparations for a possible meeting between Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Alexy II and Pope of Rome Benedict XVI have not begun, told head of the Secretariat for Christian Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations Priest Igor Vyzhanov.

The meeting might take place in Baku, Bishop Alexander of Baku and Pre-Caspian Region said on Monday. Alexy II and Benedict XYI have been invited to Baku to attend a world religions forum of October 30 - November 2, 2009.

"There are no preparations as yet," Fr. Igor said.

Department deputy head, Bishop Mark of Yegoryevsk abstained from comments.
