Status of Milan Lakic in the Serbian Orthodox Church

We inform herewith the faithful of the Serbian Orthodox Church that Milan Lakic, a former parishioner of the Church of Saint Thomas the Apostle in Johannesburg, South Africa, has no right to partake in the Holy Communion and to participate in liturgical and Church life of the Serbian Orthodox Church, according to the decision of the Serbian Patriarch Irinej, AEM no. 1185, issued on 23 September 2016

St Gregory the Theologian

The fabric of Christendom was woven into its strength and beauty of character by the threads of men such as St. Gregory the Theologian, who became one of the four great doctors of the Church during the 4th century AD, along with Saints Basil the Great, John Chrysostom and Athanasios the Great. He is further remembered as one of the three so-called Cappadocian Fathers, an honour he shares with Sts Basil and Gregory of Nyssa. He is also recognised as the champion of Orthodoxy against the heretical doctrine of Arianism.

His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia celebrates Divine Liturgy at the Russian Church’s Representation in Belgrade

On 4 February 2018, His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Holy Trinity – Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Belgrade. His visit to the Representation was timed to the 9^th anniversary of enthronement of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia that took place on 1 February 2009.

Concelebrating with the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church were Archpriest Vitaly Tarasyev, rector of the Russian Representation in Belgrade, and clergy of the Belgrade archdiocese.

Nine years of the Patriarchal Ministry of His Holiness Kirill

The significant anniversary of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill was marked on February 4th, 2018 with the Divine Liturgy in the Russian church of Holy Trinity in Belgrade officiated by His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch.

Representatives of the UN Secretary General visit Serbian Patriarch

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch received Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary -General and  Head of the United Nations Interim Administration in Kosovo (UNMIK) Zahir Tanin at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on February 2nd, 2018. 

The audience was attended by Representative of the UN Secretary-General and the Director of the UN Office in Belgrade Mrs. Simona-Mirela Miculescu and His Grace Bishop Teodosije of Raska-Prizren.

Celebration of Saint Sava’s feast-day in Banja Luka

His Grace Bishop Jefrem of Banjaluka served, on the occasion of the feast-day of Saint Sava, the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the Cathedral church of Christ the Saviour in Banja Luka.

After the Holy Liturgy, there was a rite of blessing and cutting the slava cake. The young ones received some gifts. The feast-day of Saint Sava was celebrated throughout Banjaluka – in schools, with solemn performances and slava rites as well as at the Cultural Centre of Banski Dvor where a traditional Saint Sava Academy was held.
