Bishop Mitrophan visited St. Sava Church in Boston

On Saturday, September 13th, 2014, His Grace Bishop Mitrophan visited St. Sava Church in Boston. His Grace came to the parish in the afternoon and immediately headed to visit the church and church hall premises which were devastated in the recent floods in late July. His Grace had the first hand opportunity to see the extent of the damage that befell the Boston parish. Currently, the first phase of work, which includes demolition of the damaged walls, and drying and anti-microbial treatment, is completed. The next stage is the development of a protective mechanism to prevent future flooding and then the restoration of the church hall.

Biography of the new elected Bishop Jerome of Jegar

He was born in Sarajevo on 26 September 1969; it was here that he finished elementary and secondary schools.

He was tonsured in the monastery of Holy Archangels in Kovilj on 21st November 1990, ordained deacon on 27 January 1991, promoted as archdeacon on 26 July 1999. Archdeacon Jerome graduated at the Orthodox Theological Faculty in Belgrade in 2002, and the next year he was ordained as hieromonk.

The Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the USA

The Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America commenced its fifth annual meeting Monday, September 15, with a Pan-Orthodox Clergy-Laity Gathering in Dallas, Texas.

Some two hundred people attended, including more than 30 bishops representing the member jurisdictions of the Assembly. The evening began with a Doxology—a service of thanksgiving—presided over by the Chairman of the Assembly, Archbishop Demetrios of America. His Eminence welcomed those in attendance, remarking that the Doxology was an opportunity to thank God for all His gifts and for bringing the Assembly together once again. His Eminence expressed his wish that the evening would make the faithful more aware of the sacred and great work that the Lord is doing through the Assembly.

Abbot Methodije of Hilandar Visits New Gracanica

On Sunday, September 7, 2014, a beautiful sunny day, Abbot Metodije of Hilandar visited New Gracanica Monastery.

The joyous spiritually uplifting day began with Hierarchical Divine Liturgy concelebrated by His Grace Bishop Longin, His Grace Bishop Mitrofan of the Eastern Diocese, Abbot Methodius and Hieromonk Alexei Altshul, Protojerej Marko Todorovic, Protojerej Milorad Loncar, Hieromonk Seraphim Baltic, Father Miroslav Obretkovic, Father Nikolaj Kostur, Father Sinisa Hrvacevic, Hierodeacon Sergei Puskar, Protodeacon Milovan Gogic, and Deacon Nenad Jakovljevic.
