17. February 2014 - 13:44His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral Church in Belgrade on the feast of the Presentation of Jesus Christ into the Temple.
Lots of priests and deacons concelebrated, while the choir of this church sang responses. Following the Liturgy the Patriarch visited the Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases at the Dedinje district, where he blessed the slava cake with its Director, Professor Dr. Bosko Djukanovic. The President of Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik and many other guests were present.
Hierarchal Divine Liturgy in Frankfurt
17. February 2014 - 13:42On the feast-day of Holy Three Hierarchs Serbian Patriarch Irinej celebrated in the church of the Resurrection of Christ in Frankfurt, Germany.
Lots of people from Frankfurt and surrounding areas attended the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy, which began at 9 a.m. His Holiness was concelebrated by archpriests Marko Jovanovic and Stojan Barjaktarevic, parish priests from Frankfurt; archpriest Bratislav Bozovic, parish priest of Stuttgart; protopriest Milenko Markovic, episcopal dean for South Africa; Simon Turkic, principal of the church in Frankfurt; Sinisa Vujasinovc from Osnabrueck.
Soya Victoria hosts Ana and Vlade Divac Humanitarian Foundation
15. February 2014 - 21:47On Saturday, 25th of January, the Serbian Orthodox Youth Association of the Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand – SOYA – Victoria once again hosted a charity cocktail evening in order to raise funds for the Ana and Vlade Divac
Humanitarian Foundation. Vlade Divac is well known as a successful professional basketball player in the USA's NBA League. Vlade was drafted in 1989 by the Los Angeles Lakers where he played alongside Magic Johnson and against other Basketball legends such as Michael Jordan. Since his retirement, Vlade and his wife Ana established the Foundation which is dedicated to the care and economic empowerment of refugees and displaced persons and to improving the status of children and youth. The mission of the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation is to contribute to the development of an equal, tolerant and unified Serbian society.
Brisbane hosted its first Ana and Vlade Divac Humanitarian Foundation cocktail evening fundraiser
15. February 2014 - 21:42International Basketball star Vlade Divac was back in Australia to raise money for his humanitarian projects as part of the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation.
For the first time this Cocktail Fundraiser was held in Brisbane on Thursday, 30 January at the FireWorks Gallery in conjunction with Theme and Variations Piano Services and 'balkanbeatsbrisbane'. This fundraiser, as all such humanitarian endeavours held on behalf of the Divan Foundation, will enable better living conditions for the refugee families and internally displaced people in Serbia. 'Collective Centres' were established 20 years ago as a safe alternative to a war zone but now in 2014 the living conditions are no longer considered acceptable and funds raised will provide housing for the remaining 143 (out of 515) families still in these centres.
The Feast of St. Maximus the Confessor
6. February 2014 - 11:00His Grace, Bishop Maxim, together with clergy and members of the Diocesan Council, celebrated the Feast of St. Maximus the Confessor, His Grace's name day, at the Saint Steven's Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Alhambra, California on February 3, 2014.
The day began with the Divine Liturgy followed by the Slava service. After the serves members of the Diocesan Council proceeded to the Saint Steven's Library/Conference room where they held their semi-annual meeting. Following the meeting a wonderful luncheon prepared and served by our Dicoesan Kolo Srpskih Sestara was enjoyed by all.
