Primates of Russian and Polish Orthodox Churches celebrate Divine Liturgy on Mount Grabarka on the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord

On 19 August 2012, on the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Convent of Ss Martha and Mary on Holy Mount Grabarka.

Parastos in Memory of Metropolitan +Christopher of Blessed Repose

A two year parastos was given by Mrs. Valerie Backo and family on Saturday, August 18, 2012 in memory of her father Metropolitan +Christopher of blessed memory.

Metropolitan Christopher, who served as bishop of the Diocese of Eastern America for over a decade, passed away on the eve of Transfiguration at his episcopal residence in Libertyville in 2010.

May the Lord grant him memory eternal.

Memorial service for King Peter I on Oplenac

His Grace Bishop Jovan of Sumadia served yesterday, on the feast day of Venerable Isaiah, Dalmatus and Faustus, on August 16, 2012, the Divine Liturgy and the memorial service to King Peter I the Liberator in the church of Saint George, the endownment of the Royal family of Karadjordjevic on Oplenac.

Serbian Prime Minister Mr. Ivica Dacic and His Grace Bishop Andrej of Remesiana, vicar of Serbian Patriarch, thanked yesterday the firemen from Serbia, who participated in extingushing the fire on the Mount Athos near the Hilandar monastery. 

Archimandrite Jovan Radosavljevic awarded with Order of Saint Sava

By the suggestion of His Grace Bishop Hrizostom of Zica, Right Reverend Archimandrite Jovan Radosavljevic was awarded with the order of Saint Sava. On the feast day of the Transfer of Relics of Saint hieromartyr Archdeacon Stephen the Divine Liturgy ,in the monastery of Zica, was served by His Grace Bishop Hrizostom of Zica with the concelebration of Bishop Jovan of Sumadia. The Divine Liturgy was attended by Bishop Irinej of Backa. Bishop Jovan of Sumadia read the decision of the Holy Synod of Bishops about the highest distintinction of our Holy Church to Archimandrite Jovan Radosavljevic and Bishop Irinej of Backa, on behal of the Holy Synod of Bishops, handed over the order to father Jovan.

The President of Serbia Mr. Tomislav Nikolic received yesterday on August 14, 2012 the representatives of the Archbishopric of Ohrid, Their Graces Bishops Marko of Bregalnica and David of Stobi, the member of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church Bishop Irinej of Backa and Bishop Porfirije of Jegar. Bishops of the Archbishopric of Ohrid told the problems of their Church, facts on  the unjust imprisonment of Archbishop Jovan of Ohrid and about the vulnerability of human rights and religious freedoms of bishops, priests, monks and believers of the Archbishopric of Ohrid.  President Nikolic assured his guests that he would actively advocate for full respect for human rights and religious freedoms, not only for the faithful of the Serbian Orthodox Church, but for all people, all nations and all communities in Serbia, in the region and the world.
