Serbian Patriarch receives Serbian Ambassador to the Vatican

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch received His Excellency Dr. Simo Avramovic, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Holy See at the Patriarchal court in Belgrade, on April 2, 2021,

In a friendly and cordial conversation, His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije and Ambassador Dr. Avramovic agreed that fostering cooperation with the Holy See and Pope Francis, whose relationship with the Serbian Orthodox Church is characterized by a spirit of respect and cooperation, is of special importance.

Serbian Patriarch receives Ambassador of Cyprus

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch, received His Excellency Demetrios Theophylactou, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade, on 1 April 2021.

Serbian Patriarch Porfirije thanked the Ambassador for his visit and the respect he has for the Serbian people and the Serbian Orthodox Church. His Excellency Ambassador thanked Serbian Patriarch  Porphyry at a cordial reception during which they discussed friendly ties between Serbia and Cyprus.

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch,  received the First Vice President of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Mr. Branko Ruzic at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade, on 31 March 2021

In a cordial conversation, His Holiness the Patriarch emphasized the importance of good cooperation between the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, especially in order to improve the quality of religious education and the position of religious teachers. The Patriarch especially emphasized that the Church built the foundations of Serbian public education, which it developed for centuries under the arches of monasteries, seminaries and other church-educational institutes, which it crowned with the founding of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology, one of the founders of the University of Belgrade.

Serbian Patriarch meets Apostolic Nuncio in Croatia

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch, the Administrator of the Diocese of Zagreb-Ljubljana, received Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic Croatia Mons. Giorgio Lingua, in his residence in Zagreb, on 29 March 2021.

During the cordial talk, Nuncio Lingua congratulated Patriarch Porfirije on the for the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and His Holiness wished the Pope's representative in the Republic of Croatia blessed feast day of Easter which the Roman Catholic Church celebrates next Sunday.

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch, congratulated President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Serbia Mr. Robert Sabados and Chief Rabbi of the Jewish Community of Serbia Mr. Isak Asiel and all the Jews on the Passover, reminding that Moses and Aaron, who miraculously liberated the Jewish people from Egyptian slavery, are inscribed in the diptychs of the saints of the Orthodox Church, and that the Serbian people have been sharing good and evil with our Jewish brothers for centuries. The Patriarch wished all Jews to celebrate their Passover in health and all good.

The Greek national holiday prayerfully celebrated in the Patriarchal Chapel

With the blessing of His Holiness Porfirije,  Serbian Patriarch a prayer rite of thanksgiving was served on the occasion of the Greek national holiday, the Statehood Day,  in the Patriarchal Chapel of St. Simeon the Myrrh-gusher in Belgrade, on March 25, 2021.

The prayer ceremony, which has traditionally been celebrated by the Greek community in Belgrade for more than five decades, was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Greece, His Excellency George Diakofotakis and his associates, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus, His Excellency Dimitrios Teofilaktu and his associates.
