During the first days of the Great Lent Patriarch Porfirije is in the Pec Patriarchate

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch, accompanied by court monks, traveled to the Pec Patriarchate, the ancient seat of the Serbian Orthodox Church on 14 March 2021. 

During the first three days of the Great Lent, which are spent in a prayer and with abstinence from any food and drink, His Holiness Patriarch will spend in his stauropegic laura.

Serbian Patriarch receives Apostolic Nuncio

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch received His Excellency Archbishop Luciano Suriani, Apostolic Nuncio in the Republic of Serbia, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 12 March 2021.

His Holiness Patriarch wished a welcome to the Apostolic Nuncio, thanked for an honour  he showed him by attending his enthronement in the holiest throne of the primates of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Thanking for the audience, as well as the hospitality he enjoys in Serbia, Archbishop Suriani presented the Serbian Patriarch with a congratulatory message and a gift from His Holiness Pope Francis, the head of the Roman Catholic Church.

Serbian Patriarch receives U.S. Ambassador

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch, received His Excellency Anthony Godfrey, the Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Serbia on 12 March 2021 at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade. 

Ambassador Godfrey  on behalf of the United States of America congratulated His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch the enthronement to the throne of the primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church, wishing him good health and success in spiritual success in spiritual care for the faithful people entrusted to him. Serbian Patriarch Porfirije thanked him for the congratulations and good wishes, emphasizing that he appreciates Ambassador Godfrey's efforts to improve Serbian-American relations. 

Patriarch Porfirije meets with the leaders of the Democratic Front

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch received Mr. Andrija Mandic and Mr. Milan Knezevic, leaders of the Democratic Front coalition in the Republic of Montenegro at the Patriarchal Residence in Belgrade.

Welcoming the guests, His Holiness Patriarch pointed out that the Church highly appreciates their personal sacrifice, as well as the sacrifice made by their relatives, together with all our faithful people and others who opposed lawlessness, in the fight against the unjust and discriminatory Law on Freedom of Religion. The resistance of our people to the attempt to seize shrines and other church property has merged with the struggle to preserve the identity, the Orthodox faith, the Serbian national name and culture. Everything that our people in Montenegro in those months, led by the Church, did is amazing.

Canonical visit of Bishop Siluan to Victoria

After easing the restrictive measures, Bishop Siluan made a canonical visit to Victoria in order to see the priests and pious faithful people again.

For Christmas holidays the borders were closed, and Saint Sava's Assembly in the monastery of Saint Sava was not held due to stricter state regulations concerning public gatherings in large numbers. Also, the Sretenje church-people's sssembly at the Church of St. Stefan in Keysborough was not held because complete isolation with a ban on movement was in force. 

Chilandar Monastery awarded a scholarship to Biljana Cekic - Dara of Jasenovac

With the blessing of the abbot of the Holy Monastery of Chilandar, Archimandrite Metodije, Biljana Cekic, who revived the character of little Dara of Jasenovac in front of the movie cameras, was awarded a scholarship which she will be receiving until the end of her schooling.

The scholarship was handed over by the director of the Foundation, Milivoj Randjic on the premises of the Foundation of the Holy Chilandar Monastery in Belgrade, on March 9, 2021. Biljana Cekic was accompanied by her father Radovan, sister Diana, brother Stefan and film producer Maksa Catovic.
