Senator Torshin urges to set up international foundation to protect Orthodox shrines in Kosovo and Metochia

It is necessary to set up a special foundation to preserve sites of Orthodox culture in Kosovo, first vice speaker of Russian Council of Federation Alexander Torshin believes. "This foundation should enroll as many people from various countries as possible and they will watch how Kosovo security services guard these objects, considering the fact that Kosovo authorities are not very interested in keeping Orthodox faith and Orthodox sites in the region, " Torshin told Interfax.

Lots of Belgraders gathered in this beautiful church under construction in New Mirijevo dedicated to this great Saint. On the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, September 14, St. Vladimir's Seminary will bestow the degree of Doctor of Divinity, honoris causa on Professor Christos Yannaras, a leading Greek Orthodox ethicist. Professor Yannaras has authored more than a dozen books on ethics, theology, and modern religious philosophy, including one by St. Vladimir's Seminary Press titled The Freedom of Morality.

The Church of Saint Parascheva on Cukarica celebrated its church summer Patron Saint's Day - Venerable Martyr Parascheva. Believers drom all parts of Belgrade came to this temple that on the Holy Liturgy pray and partook of the Sacrament. Participants of the Days of Cyrillic Alphabet visit Serbian Patriarch

His Holiness IRINEJ, Serbian Patriarch received today at August 7, 2010 in the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade the most successful participants of the  competition Days of Cyrillic Alphabet - Bavaniste 2010. The organizers of this event - artistic associations Aca Obradovic and Branch of the Vuk Foundation in Bavaniste declared 2010 the Year of Cyrillic Alphabet. At the competition 3623 children participated, of which more than 100 were from Norway, France, Romania, Republic of Srpska and Montenegro.
