Metropolitan Christopher of Libertyville-Chicago fell asleep in the Lord

August 2010 - 14:44Chicago, IL - At 7:45 this evening, Wedesday, August 18, 2010, on the eve of the feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, His Eminence +Christopher, Metropolitan of Libertyville-Chicago, fell asleep in the Lord at the age of 82. Clergy are asked to serve a small pomen at tomorrow's Divine Liturgy.

A memorial lunch will be served at Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 5701 N. Redwood Drive, Chicago, IL 60631, following interment.

They visit Spruce Island, the place he sanctified by his holy Christian life, and go to venerate his relics on the Island of Kodiak. This year His Grace Maxim, Bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Western America and Fr. Blasko Paraklis came on their third pilgrimage.

Consecration of the church in Shadeland
20. August 2010 - 10:19On Sunday, August 8th, in Shadeland PA, on the property of Saint Sava children's camp, a new church was consecrated. Upon invitation on Bishop Mitrofan of the Eastern American Diocese of the SOC, Bishop Longin of the New Gracanica - Midwestern American Diocese participated in the consecration along with a few of the clerics of our diocese.

August 2010 - 10:29A two-day traditional brotherly meeting of the priesthood of the Diocese of Raska-Prizren and Kosovo-Metohija, which was held this year in Kosovska Mitrovica, began with the Divine Liturgy in the church of St. Demetrius the Great Martyr . Locum Tenens of the Diocese, His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral served the Liturgy with the concelebration of His Grace Vicar Bishop Teodosije of Lipljan, ten priests and two deacons from the hierarchal regencies.
