Not to be forgotten!

For the last nine years, every 17 March, the Academy of the Serbian Orthodox Church for arts and conservation from Belgrade has been organizing a prayerful and artistic remembrance of the 2004 pogrom of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohia. Also this year, MSc Goran Janicijevic, Associate Professor on subject Fresco Painting, prepared the student’s exhibition, which is hosted at the Saint Sava Memorial Cathedral.

Since the beginning this exhibition ought to be a pledge for younger generations not to forget Kosovo and Metohia, the cradle of our nation and spirituality. Hence the exhibition is entitled  Not to be forgotten .

The exhibition Not to be forgotten traditionally gathers students of the Academy of the Serbian Orthodox Church for arts and conservation on the occasion of the remembrance of the Serbian heritage on Kosovo and Metohia. With copies of icons and frescoes we are all reminded of the pogrom of Serbs from these areas when on 17 March 2004 many lives were lost and many centuries-old shrines were destroyed. With their works the students remind themselves and the whole Serbian public of founders of their families, their roots, their ancestral homes, of spiritual culture of the Serbs on Kosovo and Metohia.

Protopresbyter-stavrophor Dr Radomir Popovic addressed the attendees and His Grace Bishop Atanasije, with the blessing of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, opened the exhibition.

A theme of the 2013 exhibition is the Equal to the Apostles Emperor Constantine  on the occasion of the celebration of 1700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan, but also as a reminder that the founders of the Serbian nation and states also were holy – the Nemanjics, led by Equal to the Apostles Saint Sava.

Until March 24th, 2013 the exhibition will be opened daily from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
