Belarusian Church launches first “bus of mercy” in Brest

Following the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence Archbishop John of Brest and Kobrin celebrated the rite of consecration of the new “bus of mercy,” which will be the faithful assistant of the Orthodox “Mercy” service for years to come, reports Online Brest.
Fiery Greek Metropolitan Ambrose of Kalavryta announces retirement
20. August 2019 - 15:15His Eminence Metropolitan Ambrose of Kalavryta of the Greek Orthodox Church, known for his outspoken criticism of lawlessness in the Church and in society, announced his resignation following the Divine Liturgy on Sunday, reports Romfea.
His resignation was formally submitted to the Holy Synod yesterday, to begin the process of nominating his successor. He explained in an interview the next day that he is retiring due to his advancing age and failing strength. His Eminence is 81 years old.
5th anniversary of enthronement of Metropolitan Onuphry celebrated in Kiev
20. August 2019 - 14:56His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine was enthroned as the primate of the Ukrainian Church on August 17, 2014, following the repose of His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir.
The fifth anniversary of his enthronement was previously celebrated in June together with his name’s day, when hierarchs throughout the Orthodox world gathered in Kiev to honor the beloved primate.

August 2019 - 14:47Today at noon, Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece was proclaimed Honorable Citizen of Hydra at a special ceremony held in the conference hall of the Cathedral, in the presence of Metropolitan Ephraim of Hydra, Spetses and Aegina, Bishop Symeon of Thespies, Protosyncellus of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, local authorities, clergy and faithful congregation. The Mayor of the island, Mr. George Koukoudakis, welcomed the Archbishop emphasizing that “Your presence is a great honor and blessing for the island. Your presence undoubtedly brightens the festivities”, and referred to the important, as he said, philanthropic and social work of the Archdiocese and the Church in general.
