At dawn on Monday 9th May 2016, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, arrived in Kenya, accompanied by the Reverend Protoprsbyter Athenodoros Papaevripiadis, Exarch of the Patriarchate in Cyprus, to fulfil a Pastoral Visit to this country and to perform the enthronements of the two new Bishops of Nyeri and Mount Kenya, Gis Grace Neophytos and Kisumu and Western Kenya His Grace Athanasios within the next few days.

His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew offers his dreams and prayers for the Holy and Great Council, meeting in Crete in late June 2016. The Holy and Great Council is the first time in 1200 years that 14 autocephalous Orthodox churches are meeting, with a common desire for strengthened relations and to be a sign of “unity in a world afflicted by conflict and division.”

A protestant pastor in Kaliningrad embraces Orthodoxy

On Sunday April 17, 2016, Nikita Yeremeyev, former pastor of a Protestant community, was received into Orthodoxy in Kaliningrad, reports the Kaliningrad Diocese’s official website.

“My conversion to Orthodoxy from Protestantism is not a mere desertion from the enemy’s army, but rather a result of some sort of evolution of worldview. In Protestantism I became acquainted with the Christ of the Gospel. And in Orthodoxy, I have met the Christ Who lives now, in the sacraments of the body of the Church,” the young pastor relates.
