On 26 November 2013, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia received Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, President of the Pontifical Council for the Family. They were joined in the meeting, which took place at Danilovskaya hotel, by Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations, and Prof. Adriano Roccucci, general secretary of the Community of Sant’Egidio.

Russian Patriarch Kirill opens International Conference on Modern Bible Studies and the Tradition of the Church

On 26 November 2013, a scholarly theological conference of the Synodal Biblical and Theological Commission on Modern Bible Studies and the Tradition of the Church began its work.

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia opened the conference and welcomed the participants.

The Presidium of the conference consisted of Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, chairman of the Synodal Biblical and Theological Commission and rector of the Ss Cyril and Methodius Theological Institute of Post-Graduate Studies; Metropolitan Antony of Borispol and Brovary, chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and rector of the Kievan theological schools; Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture; Dr. Yefim Pivovar, rector of the Russian State Humanities University.

50th anniversary of Metropolitanate of Austria

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Metropolitanate of Austria His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch served the Holy Liturgy in Vienna

The central event of the pastoral visit of Patriarch Bartholomew to Austria was the jubilee – the 50th anniversary of the Greek Metropolitanate in Austria. The solemn Holy Liturgy, on the occasion of this significant jubilee, was served in the church of the Resurrection of Christ in the centre of Vienna.

Requiem service for the victims of mass famine of the 1930s is celebrated in Moscow

On 23 November 2013, a requiem service for5 the victim of mass famine in the Soviet Union was celebrated at the Church of St. Nicholas in Three Hills at the request of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Russian Federation and the Ukrainian diaspora in Moscow.

Praying at the requiem service were H.T. Vladimir Yelchenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Russian Federation; embassy employees; representatives of Ukrainian communities who live in Moscow, and parishioners.

Celebration of 78th birthday of Metropolitan Vladimir are held in Kiev

23 November 2013, marks the 78th birthday of His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev on All Ukraine. Metropolitan Hilarion, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, arrived in Kiev with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to take part in the celebration.

Metropolitan Vladimir officiated at the Divine Liturgy at St. Nicholas’ church, while Metropolitan Hilarion celebrated at the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Laura of the Caves together with Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl, abbot of the Laura, and the assembly of bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
