On Monday, 29th August/ 11th September 2017, the Patriarchate celebrated the memory of  the beheading of the Holy and Glorious Forerunner John at his Holy Monastery, located opposite the Church of the Resurrection, at a short distance to the south west, at the Christian district of the Old City of Jerusalem.

On 11 September 2017, the presentation of the book “The Lamb of God” by Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, rector of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Theological Institute of Postgraduate Studies, took place at the Medvedkovo bookstore. It is the fifth book in the six-volume series “Jesus Christ. Life and Teaching.”

Sunday, September 10, 2017 – The Grand Consecration of the Cathedral of All Saints took place in the city of Ruse, Bulgaria. The consecration was presided over by Metropolitan Naum of Ruse. He was assisted by Metropolitan Longin of Saratov and Volsk and bishops and clergy from the Romanian Orthodox Church, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church’s Metropolia of Western and Central Europe, the Metropolia of Sofia and the Metropolia of Ruse. Among the concelebrants was Archpriest Vladislav Tsypin, professor at Moscow Theological Academy.

Nearly 100,000 faithful took part in a cross procession today in St. Petersburg in honor of today’s feast of the Translation of the Relics of St. Alexander Nevsky, which are kept in the city’s St. Alexander Nevsky Lavra, reports RIA-Novosti.

On 29th August 2017, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, officiated during the Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Beheading of John the Forerunner, at the renovated historic Church of the same name, in the old “Kotsieios” Greek Hospital in Alexandria. Many faithful who venerate the Baptist, attended the Divine Liturgy.
