On Thursday afternoon, 17th/30th March 2017, the so far novice monk who has been serving at the Most Holy Church of the Resurrection Fr. Constantinos was tonsured a monk by H.H.B. our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos, at the Reception Hall of the Patriarchate. Present were the Most Reverend Archbishop Isidoros of Hierapolis and Elder Sacristan, the Most Reverend Archbishop Aristarchos of Constantina and Secretary-General, the Fathers serving at the Church of the Resurrection and other Hagiotaphite Fathers and pilgrims.

On Friday evening, 18th/31st March 2017, the full Akathist Service was celebrated as part of the Compline and the Kanon of the Theotokos at the Catholicon of the Most Holy Church of the Resurrection.

The Choir Leader Archimandrite Aristovoulos was singing on the right and Mr. Alvanos on the left. The first part of the Salutations was recited by the leader of the Service, His Beatitude the Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos, the second part by Geronda Secretary-General Most Reverend Archbishop Aristarchos of Constantina, the third by Elder Kamarasis Archimandrite Nectarios and the fourth by Dragouman Archimandrite Matthew.

Patriarchate of Jerusalem: Renouncement

The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem expresses its disapproval and refuses any cooperation or relation with Lee Man-Hee, Korean founder of the so-called “Shinchonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of Tabernacle of the Testimony,” who teaches anti-Triadic and eschatological heresies, and claims to be the last genuine prophet.

On Sunday 26th March 2017, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, on the occasion of the Feast of S John of the “Ladder”, visited the Sinai Dependency in Cairo, where he officiated at the Divine Liturgy. His Beatitude was accompanied by His Grace Theodoros, Bishop of Babylonos and Patriarchal Vicar of Cairo.

On 30 March 2017, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations and rector of the Theological Institute of Postgraduate Studies, met with Bishop Frank Otfried July, vice president of the Lutheran World Federation.

With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Irinej, on Sunday, March 26, Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church on Racoon Rd hosted a Pan-Orthodox Lenten Vespers, bringing together clergy from the Serbian Eastern Diocese Cleveland Deanery and members of the Youngstown Orthodox Clergy Brotherhood. 

In front of a completely full congregation, the clergy prayerful moved from the light-colored vestments donned for Sunday’s resurrectional service and back into the royal-purple reserved for solemn Lenten prayers.  Following the dismissal, all in attendance gathered for a wonderful meal in the parish hall.
